Super easy to setup. Charge it up, turn it on with the single button, find it on your device’s Bluetooth menu and pair it. Done! A nice feature is that Dual offers an app for your phone or tablet so you can verify that the device is actually connected and see the real-time GPS data.
Once I paired this to my iPhone the TrackAddict app recognized that I was using an external GPS received and began using the signal from the XGPS160 instead of the internal iPhone GPS receiver. The 10Hz update rate on the XGPS160 provides far greater car tracking resolution than the 1Hz that a typical phone receiver provides.
The unit comes with a rubberized surround that is supposed to be used on your dash to keep the unit in place, but for racing applications that’s not an ideal solution. I ended up using some 3M Dual Lock fastener tape on the bottom of the unit. It holds the unit in place securely in my car but also allows me to pop it out when not in use.
The only slight negative item with this unit is that it uses a mini-USB connection for charging. This is a bit of an outdated connector. I wish they would update it to use a USB-C connection so I don’t have to keep track of a separate cable just for charging this one thing.
Overall an easy solution for adding 10Hz GPS to your phone or tablet. Perfect for racing applications.

Works great, but not out of the box. Here's how I fixed it.
I'm getting <2m accuracy at 10Hz. If it had done this out of the box this would be a 5-star review. I'm using this with an Android phone and knew going in that I would need a "helper app" to sidestep the inexplicable omission by Google of the Bluetooth data mode that makes Apple devices such amazing additions to small cockpits around the world. I tried out the manufacturer's and one of two that they suggest, Bluetooth GPS. Both of them would show 12+ satellites, but instead of showing their relative positions in the sky above me, they would all be stacked on top of each other on the northern horizon. The green GPS light would flash constantly and never turn on solid to indicate a location fix. A couple of times the satellites would spread out, but no fix. One time I did get a fix and it reported my speed as over 200mph and my navigation app kept moving me all over the neighborhood. The other time it reported my speed at over 1400mph and didn't last long enough to open my navigation app. After a couple of boiler-plate "install the helper app" and "turn on mock location" responses, the CSR for Dual Electronics instructed me to remove the back panel and briefly unplug the battery. Apparently, if left idle for too long, this thing forgets how to track orbits. If this hadn't taken nearly a solid week, this would be a 4-star review. Device reset procedure: 1. Pry the 4 rubber plugs out of the base of the unit using a mini screwdriver or similar. 2. Remove the 4 Phillips drive screws from the unit, releasing the bottom plate. 3. Unplug the battery. This connector holds on really solidly but DO NOT PULL ON THE WIRES! Use a small set of needle-nose pliers to grip the connector and pull, or a set of tweezers to lever the connector out. 4. Wait a few seconds and then reverse these steps. After this, satellites are instantly placed in the sky and the location fix is made by the time I get my phone connected. I haven't tried the logging feature yet or used it enough to comment on battery life. I'll update my review if there's anything to say.
